About Us

In 2021, passionate arborists, climate activists, and community developers formed Bexar Branches Alliance to bring together various public and private organizations focused on improving the region’s urban ecology.

The region’s population nearly doubled between 2000 and 2020, resulting in rapid development expansion and removing thousands of trees from the Hill Country ecosystem. Tree coverage also varies throughout the region with economically depressed areas having the lowest coverage rates. A Texas A&M study identified 80,000 additional trees must be planted in the Greater San Antonio Region to offset the urban heat effect and address tree coverage inequalities.

Bexar Branches Alliance helps to solve these issues by acting as a collaboration partner across organizations and ensuring the execution of urban tree-related priorities.
